Forge
Developer productivity suite streamlining workflows from code to deployment.
Overview
Forge is a unified developer platform that brings together version control, CI/CD, monitoring, and incident management into a single, cohesive experience. It replaces the patchwork of disconnected tools that most engineering teams juggle daily.
The Challenge
Modern development workflows involve switching between six to ten different tools. Context switching is expensive, and critical information — like whether a deployment caused a spike in errors — lives in a different tool than the one used to deploy.
Approach
I led the design of the web dashboard and CLI experience, working to create a unified information architecture that made navigation intuitive across very different functional domains.
Design highlights
- Unified timeline — A single chronological view that weaves together commits, deployments, alerts, and incidents, providing full context at a glance.
- CLI-first workflows — Every action available in the dashboard has a CLI equivalent, designed for developers who prefer the terminal.
- Smart notifications — Alerts are grouped, deduplicated, and routed based on code ownership, reducing noise by over seventy percent.
Results
Forge reduced the average number of tools in a developer’s daily workflow from eight to three. Incident response time improved by forty-five percent thanks to the unified timeline. The product was adopted by over two hundred engineering teams within its first year.
